We are delighted to present our next exhibition; “Akaroa Tapestry” by Christchurch-based artist Galina Kim. On the wall from August 24th, this is Galina’s debut solo exhibition with us after dazzling with her dynamic work for our 2021 floral group show. An homage to the sights and sounds of Akaroa, Galina’s new suite of compelling paintings feature picturesque historic cottages, lush woodlands and distinctive coastal vistas familiar to many. Employing bold colours, rich textures, layers of paper and fabric, her paintings evoke a vibrant tapestry of scenes, emotions, and memory. “I have sought to capture the spirit of this unique place. It’s my invitation to engage all your senses; hear seagulls cry, taste the sweetness of a ripe fruit, inhale the floral bouquet of Akaroa’s gardens.
